PROGRAM

Pre-requisite: training "Understand the track" Or "follow the trail",  or be able to demonstrate knowledge of practical snow science, avalanche situations, risk management and group driving at a minimum.

Formation's goal

Move in snowy mountains, adopting the right risk management strategies, and optimizing your track.

educational goals

- Identify, on a map and in reality, "critical" field situations

- Recognize typical avalanche situations

- Finely interpret a BERA

-Take human factors into account in decision-making

-Plan a race in detail

- Take into account human factors in decision-making

- Communicate with a group to share decisions and enforce instructions

- Combine knowledge and know-how to   a safe, comfortable, aesthetic and respectful trace of  the environment

MATERIAL

Ski touring equipment

– Safety equipment (DVA with new batteries, metal shovel with handle, 2.40m probe)

- Cross-country skis or snowshoes

Clothing & Accessories

- Waterproof jacket

- Thermal layer (down jacket or fleece)

– Adapted pants (water-repellent and thick enough: ski touring, cross-country skiing, mountaineering)

– 1 Pair of warm gloves and 1 pair of light gloves

– Beanie and buff

- Sunglasses

- Solar cream

- Meat bag and change for the refuge (in the case of a night in the refuge)

- Stove if necessary (to be confirmed)

Race food

- 1L water bottle and/or thermos

- Cereal bars, seeds, dried fruits

- Picnic for both days

- Meal for the evening (if night in an unguarded refuge)

- Breakfast (if night in an unmanned refuge)
